One person was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and another with a broken collar bone after "a number of serious assaults" in Carlisle.

Police are probing the alleged attacks, which are said to have involved four or five men going to an address on Mardale Road in the Raffles area of the city, before assaulting five people.

Two of those allegedly assaulted were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle - one with a serious but not life threatening head injury and one with a broken collar bone.

Another three people suffered minor injuries.

The alleged attacks are said to have taken place at about 3.30am on July 8.

The suspects are said to have spoken with Liverpudlian accents.
