A North Cumbrian engineering firm has appointed a new health and safety manager.

Leanne Campbell, 31, has joined Tweddle Engineering, based at Kirkbride Airfield, near Wigton.

The company is a leading provider of bespoke machinery, which focuses on the supply of treatment equipment and pressure vessels to the timber preservation market.

It offers services including welding, nuclear mock-ups and sawmill equipment and has recently been awarded a number of contracts overseas.

Leanne, of Lockerbie, joins from The Edinburgh Woollen Mill where she was group health and safety officer.

She attended Glasgow Caledonian University and is NEBOSH general certified and is working towards the NEBOSH diploma.

Leanne also has technical membership of IOSH.

She said: ā€œIā€™m delighted to have joined Tweddle Engineering as I am looking forward to building my knowledge in a new sector and building on the health and safety foundations already in place.

"I am looking forward to a new challenge after relocating back from Cardiff.ā€

Earlier this year, Joe Watson took over as managing director of the firm from founder Derek Tweddle.

Mr Tweddle, who set up the company over 30 years ago, is still involved with the business and took on the new position of owner/director.

Tweddle Engineering, which also has a sister company Cumbria Profiling at Kirkbride Airfield, has already begun a major expansion at its site.
