Two people found themselves in court after an incident at a family-friendly event in Whitehaven town centre.
Michael Shaun Fleming, 43, of Corkickle, Whitehaven pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place, and Korrine Marie Simpson, 45, of Kirklea, Little Broughton, admitted obstructing a constable in execution of his duty.
The pair appeared jointly at West Cumbria Magistrates' Court in Workington on Friday.
The court heard Fleming was drunk and using offensive language at a public event in St Nicholas' Gardens on June 20.
Simpson had placed herself in front of Fleming and a police officer.
Fleming told District Judge Gerald Chalk: "I have got a drink problem. I'm trying my hardest to work with Unity.
"I have just been stupid in a public place which I have no right to do. I'm sorry - it was out of character."
Simpson told the court: "It's just drink-related and it wasn't right."
Each was fined £45 and must pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge to fund victim services.
