West Cumbrian engineering firm Shepley Group have reached the significant health and safety milestone for its work at the Sellafield site.
The group, based at Westlakes Science and Technology Park in Moor Row, near Whitehaven has achieved 10 years and 14.5 million man hours worked at the complex nuclear site, since its last RIDDOR (reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations) event.
The group praised its staff for their commitment to building a positive health and safety culture in the business. It was recently awarded the Engineering Construction Industry Association (ECIA) safe working award, and has achieved the Rospa Order of Distinction, 22 years “gold” award.

“The safety of our colleagues is the most critical responsibility we all have,” he said.
“Each and every day, we should come to work knowing that we will be safe. Congratulations and thank you to all of our staff for this outstanding achievement.”
The last time there was reported by the group on the Sellafield site, Gordon Brown was Prime Minister, Manchester United had just lost 2-0 to FC Barcelona in the European Cup Final and Microsoft had just released Windows 7.
