LIFE as a biologist will fall under the microscope of children in Carlisle today.
Children from across the county will put down their pens and head to the University of Cumbria for the Festival of Biology.
They will get the chance to take part in interactive learning that puts them in the shoes of a biologist.
Caroline Sharples, academic lead for STEM at the University of Cumbria, said: “Biology is a fascinating area of science.
“This is a really exciting opportunity for students to come and have a go at some hands on biology with us at the university.”
The fun-filled day will see the children figuring out what species they are looking at and solving problems in the laboratory at Fusehill Street in Carlisle.
At the end of the day they will take part in a test to determine the most extraordinary creature.
