A MOBILE hair stylist - who specialises in helping ladies who lose their hair - now has a permanent base.

Ashley Watterson, has opened her first hair salon called The Hair Room by Ashley - on Etterby Street in Stanwix, Carlisle.

Ashley, originally from Brydekirk in South West Scotland but now living in Warwick Bridge, near Carlisle, has built up a large client base over the years visiting those who have busy lifestyles.

She said: "I'll still be visiting my older ladies who can't travel far and those that don't live on a bus route. One of my clients travels up from London to get her hair styled."

Ashley also does bridal hair and will travel to see brides and their bridesmaids on their big day.

Ashley, 33, has wanted to be a hair stylist from a young age.

Her uncle, Phil McKay, who runs Lakeside Castings in Carlisle, said: "She loves chatting and is always bright and cheerful. She studied all her training in Carlisle gaining her NVQ3 and became runner up in the UK at the Regis Creative Hair Awards in 2005 in Birmingham and colour expert for Supercuts in 2004 where she managed the Carlisle branch."

Ashley has just finished a fully accredited course in integration system due to hair loss in Birmingham specialising in ladies who lose their hair through stress, menopause, post pregnancy, receding hair line and alopecia.

Ashley said: "I want all my clients to leave the salon feeling really good and when that happens I know I’ve done my job right."

A visit to Ashley's salon is by appointment only.
