Copeland MP Trudy Harrison is still undecided as to who to back in the race for the Conservative party leadership.
Mrs Harrison is set to make a decision this weekend whether to vote for Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt, after initially backing Michael Gove who narrowly lost out last Thursday.
“I backed Michael Gove throughout the MPs race for leadership, Michael lost out by just two votes. I shall now follow the remaining 15 hustings over the next month and I look forward to attending the Lakes and Borders husting meeting on Saturday afternoon before making my decision of who to back for the leadership,” she said.
“The reduction in corporation tax that Jeremy Hunt pledges to ‘super-charge’ the economy would certainly help our SME (small and medium sized enterprises) community. Both candidates want to put much more money into schools and share a view of supporting ‘no deal’ as a last resort.
“I’m now working with both teams to advise on Copeland’s needs. This, I think, is the most helpful approach for our communities as the Conservative membership come to their decisions.”
