A Workington man with a history of stealing meat has been given a suspended six week jail sentence.
At Carlisle's Rickergate court, Declan Hugh Patrick Tyson, 28, admitted a raft of offences, which included stealing meat worth £124 from Workington's Mark & Spencer store on May 18.
He also pleaded guilty to breaching his criminal behaviour order, which was imposed on April 12 and banned him from going into Mark & Spencer.
The court heard about the original offences for which the order was imposed.
These included attempting to steal meat worth £72 from the same store; stealing steak worth £144 from the store on January 17; stealing alcohol worth £40 from Morrisons on March 28; and stealing alcohol worth £9.98 from Home Bargains in Workington on January 11.
Magistrates ruled that as part of his sentence, Tyson, of Harrington Road, Workington, must take part in up to 25 days of rehabilitation activity. In addition he must pay £124 compensation to Marks & Spencer, £85 prosecution costs, and a £115 victim surcharge.
