Three Carlisle mums have been prosecuted for failing to ensure that their children went to a Carlisle secondary school.
The first defendant was a mum whose daughter skipped going to her secondary school for several months.
The woman, who can not be named for legal reason, was put before magistrates sitting at the city's Rickergate court after her child failed to turn up for lessons at her school between September 5 last year and March 28.
She admitted offences relating to the child's non attendance.
The defendant was fined £176, with £100 costs, and a £30 victim surcharge.
In the second case, the woman who was described as the parent of a girl pupil at the same school as the first case admitted not ensuring the child went to school between September 5 last year and March 4 this year. She was fined £80, with £100 costs and a £30 surcharge.
The final case, relating to the same school, involved another girl, who did not regularly attend the school over a similar period. She too admitted two offences.
She was fined £360, with £100 costs, and a £30 victim surcharge.
