WHETHER it’s a midday snack, or an early afternoon feast, here in Cumbria there are loads of places to go for a lunch.

This week we asked News & Star readers to share their recommendations on the best places to go in the north and west of Cumbria - and they didn’t disappoint.

We had more than 100 comments on our Facebook page following our post earlier this week.

Here - in no particular order, are our readers’ choice.

1: THE OLD GINN HOUSE, WORKINGTON

The eatery, based on Moor Road, Great Clifton, Workington, was recommended to us by Eileen Pratt.

It is open to the public seven days a week, and serves meals between 12pm and 2pm, and again between 6pm and 9.30pm.

Eileen said: “Great food, large menu and specials board.

“Family friendly, children’s menu including toddler portions, very friendly staff.”

2: WOODLANDS TEA ROOM, SANTON BRIDGE

“They also make fantastic coffees using Carvetti coffee, which I’d never had before but it’s local and it’s lovely.

“I also love that they have bird feeders next to their outside seating so, you can also enjoy a whole host of different birds while having your lunch inside or outside.

“Fabulous little place. Love it.”
