THE asking price for a rural Cumbrian hotel for sale has been reduced - and agents say they expect interest to be keen.

Business and property adviser, Christie & Co has reduced the asking price of The King’s Head Hotel, to £450,000.

The traditional, two storey detached riverside inn, in Ravenstonedale, features local Lakeland slate and has recently undergone refurbishments.

The inn is near the Howgill Fells and famously featured in Wainwright’s 1972 books, Walks on the Howgill Fells. It is just one mile from the Coast to Coast route.

The Metcalfe-Gibson family has owned the property since 1892 and are selling as they look forward to retirement.

Christopher Metcalfe-Gibson said: “The King’s Head is a much loved family business and I am sad to be selling, but the time is right to move on and enjoy my retirement.

“I very much hope to find the right buyer who can continue to build on the solid foundations of this traditional Cumbrian pub.”

Keith Stringer, director at Christie & Co, said: “The reduced asking price presents potential purchasers with a fantastic opportunity to acquire a beautiful, historic inn.

“Offering plenty of scope to increase trade, we expect the business’s revised pricing will be well received by the market.”
