A SOLWAY primary school has received a letter from Buckingham Palace.

The letter was received after writing to the Queen and inviting her to visit the nursery.

One pupil from Silloth Primary School’s nursery wrote the letter a few weeks ago.

She was inspired after they had been talking in class about London and where the Queen lives, and about the soldiers who guard Buckingham Palace.

Neve Scott, aged three, drew a pictures of herself and the Queen.

In the letter she asked about the Queen’s horses and dogs and invited her to visit the nursery.

Rachel Ingrams, headteacher at Silloth Primary School, said: “The reply arrived about six weeks later and it thanked Neve for the invitation to the nursery, but unfortunately Her Majesty had to decline due to other commitments.

“The letter said that the Queen loved the colourful picture.

“The children and staff were very excited to receive the reply and Neve’s family were delighted that the Palace had taken the time to write.

“The Palace included some information leaflets about the Queen, the carriages, the horses and dogs.”

The letter and the information now takes pride of place on the wall in the nursery at the school.
