The final two contenders vying to become the next prime minster will be decided by tonight.

Two rounds of voting will take place today, with the result of the first expected at about 1pm, and the result of the second expected at about 6pm.

Four contenders were left in the race after last night’s result, which saw Cumbrian MP Rory Stewart knocked out of the running after receiving the lowest number of votes.

Boris Johnson, Jeremy Hunt, Michael Gove and Sajid Javid will go head-to-head in today’s votes.

Last night’s vote put Mr Johnson far in the lead, and is almost certain to make it to the final two.

However with just three votes separating Mr Hunt and Mr Gove - 54 and 51 respectively - and Mr Javid only slightly behind on 38, eyeing up some of Mr Stewart’s 27 votes now up for grabs, the candidate taking on Mr Johnson as the vote is put to party members is far from certain.
