Workington Derwent Rotary doubled their target of raising £300 by doing a static bike ride for Prostate Cancer UK and raising over £600.

Members, individuals, groups and businesses helped raise the total at Workington Leisure Centre on June 14.

Ian Chambers, from Workington Derwent Rotary Club, said: "The event was a great success. We had support from Morrisons, staff from West House and Allerdale, Cockermouth Young Cycling Club and lots of individuals.

"The staff at the Leisure Centre - Megan and Graham went out of their way to make it a success."

The charity is a cause close to the organisation's heart. Rotary member Rod Earle said: “In our rotary we have 40 members and quite a few have got prostate cancer, it’s an important cause, this is the driver behind it.”

Participants were rewarded at the end of the event with cake and free water.
