Good old family fun with old dogs, young dogs, pedigrees and cute dogs – they were all welcome at the Upperby dog show.

This show had a parchment for fun rather than breeding, with several novelty classes which meant that every precious pet from top pedigree to the magical mongrel they all had a chance to shine.

Families were able to bring their four-legged friends to St Margaret Mary Church in Upperby the second fun day dog show that had been held.

The sun was shining and the dogs were barking.

After spending countless hours working on the dog show Maria Hayton, her family and volunteers help to deliver a barking good day.

Stepping back in time, the day was out with the new and in with the old. Rather than having bouncy castles and modern entertainment they decided to keep it simple and hosted games such as Beat the Rat and Hoopla.

Organiser, Maria Hayton from Upperby said: "It was a family effort.

"It was a fun day fundraiser and the money we have collected will all be spent on projects in the community."

When the team have totted up the total, they have raised over £400.

Maria continued: "We have been really lucky this year as Tesco gave all the dog treats and even a stuffed dog for people to name.

"It all helps to raise a little bit of money.

"It been a good weekend, it was hard work but it was fun.

"It was nice to see dogs and people interacting, no fighting, but plenty of barking.

"The children enjoyed the silly games, old fashion games, it was just old fashion fun."

It was a splendid timing, she added: "Just as the last class finished the heavens opened, and people who had nothing to do with the setting everything up helped us get everything in.

"We were soaking wet and we weren't bothered. Communities are great when they just laugh together and rain really does make people laugh.

"Everyone who came seemed to enjoy themselves."
