PLANS are in place to install new outdoor exercise equipment in the Yewdale area of Carlisle.

Work is underway to provide a new, free-to-use outdoor green gym for residents.

It will be located on the edge of the park next to Yewdale Community Centre and will be funded by the city council.

Locating the new facility on the grassed area next to the Community Centre will help to bring back to life an area that has previously been unused.

There are three options on the table which are: a set of traditional gym equipment; a collection of cross training systems; and assault course equipment.

Tomorrow, the plans will be unveiled to residents between 10am and 11am in Yewdale Community Centre, where they can give their views on all of the options.

An online survey has been set up to allow residents to provide feedback and consultation material will be displayed on site and in the Community Centre, along with hard copies of a written response form.

The consultation period runs until Friday, June 28 and the city council will consider all feedback received. The project will then be progressed via specialist equipment manufacturers and installers with an anticipated completion date of autumn 2019.

An online survey is also available at www.carlisle.gov.uk/consultations

Responses should be returned by June 28.
