STAGECOACH Cumbria and North Lancashire has launched a brand-new bursary scheme to support junior sports clubs across Carlisle.

The bursary scheme, named Tomorrow’s Local Legends, has £3,000 in funding to give away to local teams across the border city. Clubs can apply for a share of the bursary to help fund the equipment they need to make it to the top, whether its new kits, goals, cones, shirts, or balls.

The bursary is open to sports clubs aged between five and 16 years. Each club can request up to £500 of funding to source new equipment.

Stagecoach will be accepting applications from June 7 to July 5, 2019 and all chosen clubs will be contacted by July 10.

Terms and Conditions apply

Stagecoach will notify successful applicants of their bursary amount by July 10, 2019. Once clubs have purchased their brand-new equipment and/or kits, which will feature Stagecoach branding, they will be invited to take part in a video, to showcase how the bursary has been spent.

Mark Whitelocks, managing director for Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: “We understand how difficult it is for local sports clubs to secure funding and how commonplace it is for equipment and kits to need an upgrade.

“It’s also incredibly important to do everything we can to reduce any barriers preventing kids from getting active, so with that in mind we’re delighted to launch the Tomorrow’s Local Legends bursary.

“The bursary will lend a helping hand to local teams which need a few extra bits of kit, and we look forward to seeing some of these local clubs in action next season!”
