Road users are being warned that heavy rain is set to hit Cumbria today.
Torrential downpours are expected to hit this morning and last until about 3pm today.
Highways England has issued the advice to motorists in all regions, including Cumbria.
Although no official weather warnings are in place for the county, heavy rain is forecast.
Highways England advises road users to check conditions before you travel.
It said: "Highways England is working closely with the Met Office in monitoring the predicted weather conditions, with rain expected to affect areas of the strategic road network.
"Road users are advised to take extra care when travelling in wet conditions: allow plenty of extra time to complete your journey and prior to setting off, check the very latest forecast and road conditions."
