A MAN has admitted assaulting a woman with a makeshift weapon during a violent incident at an address in Carlisle.
Richard Charles Rodgers, 53, pleaded guilty to three offences when he appeared at the city's crown court on Wednesday.
Rodgers admitted assaulting Kay Irving, causing her actual bodily harm; possession of an offensive weapon - a USB cable and padlock - without lawful authority or reasonable excuse; and affray.
The three charges all arise out of an afternoon incident at an address at Levens Drive, Morton, on Friday, May 10.
Rodgers is said by the prosecution to have assaulted Ms Irving with the offensive weapon.
Judge Andrew Jefferies QC heard Rodgers, of Stonegarth, Carlisle, would be putting forward a basis for his guilty pleas.
As a result Judge Jefferies said he would need time to consider the prosecution and defence versions of events before passing sentence.
Rodgers' case was provisionally listed for a hearing at the crown court on Tuesday of next week.
In the meantime he was remanded in custody by Judge Jefferies.
