Family fun for Oak Tree Animal Rescue as the summer fair welcomed droves of people on their special day.

The charity welcomed animal lovers to their home in Wetheral, Carlisle.

The team organised an event for the owners of pets adopted from the charity, allowing them to make a return visit, meeting staff - and other animal residents.

Supported by local vets and businesses, it was deemed a success by the charity– the craft fair, mountain rescue demonstration and fun dog show were some of the highlights.

Caroline Johnson, General Manager said: “We had a lovely day at our 110th birthday party and pet blessing on Sunday. It was wonderful to celebrate our pets, animals and the natural world with our community."

Mieke Tennant, Oak Tree’s Events Coordinator said: “We were really glad to offer our loyal supporters new events in the form of a Ceilidh and to involve our animals both here on site and those who have found their forever homes, with our Canine Reunion and Equine Demo. The dog workshops were also a real success and we look forward to hosting more in the future.”

Robyn, Oak Tree’s Volunteer Coordinator said: “It is heart-warming how many people are willing to give up their precious time to help local animals in need. We are enormously grateful to everyone who volunteers their time and wants them to know what a difference they make.”
