Tickets went on sale today to see James Arthur in Carlisle later this year.

The pop superstar stops off at The Sands Centre in October as part of a brief UK tour.

He shot to fame when he won the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012 and his debut single, Impossible, went straight to number one in the UK Singles Chart.

Since then, the singer-songwriter has sold more than 25 million records, as well as racking up more than three billion streams worldwide.

Following his sold out UK arena tour in 2017, Arthur has spent over 43 weeks in the singles charts, collaborated with the likes of Rudimental, Marshmello and Anne-Marie on their smash hit Rewrite The Stars and performed all over the world.

His career has been dogged by controversy but his self-titled debut album and the 2016 follow-up Back From The Edge both went platinum in the UK.

He has three number one singles to his name, including the Grenfell Tower fundraiser Bridge Over Troubled Water, featuring various artists.

He has also scored top 10 hits with four other singles, including last year's Power of Love duet with X Factor winner Dalton Harris.

His latest tour is called Up Close and Personal and he is only performing 16 dates this autumn and his appearance at The Sands Centre on October 26 is another big-name coup for the venue.

It has already hosted sold-out shows for The Vamps, The Specials and upcoming shows by Bastille and Seventies stars Dr Hook in November have already sold out.
