A Cumbrian housebuilder is planning to host its inaugural charity ball.

Genesis Homes, based in Penrith, will hold the ball at the Halston, in Carlisle, on November 16.

The event forms a major part of an 18-month fundraising partnership with Jigsaw Children’s Hospice.

Jigsaw is the children’s hospice for Cumbria and works across the county to provide care and support to children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses.

Nicky Gordon, managing director for Genesis Homes, said: “The charity ball will be a fantastic event, and potentially nothing like Cumbria has seen before.

“Our challenge to ourselves for the ball is definitely go large, or go home as we go all out in organising a night to remember.

“Joking aside, we’re serious about making as much money as we can to help Jigsaw.”

Every day Jigsaw needs to raise £2,126.46 from community donations to run the service for 24 hours.

It uses a team of nurses, health care assistants and activity co-ordinators to provide the care the youngsters need.

Nicky said: “Our aim is to raise enough money to pay for several days, and I’d encourage like-minded companies to dig deep and reserve tables so we can make this a fantastic fundraising event.”

Natalie Bingham, corporate relationship co-ordinator at the Hospice, said: “Everybody at Jigsaw Children’s Hospice is really excited about this new partnership with Genesis Homes.

“Already the enthusiasm and passion shown by Nicky and the team at Genesis has been incredible, with lots of exciting events and projects currently in the pipeline; we can’t wait for the ball.

“Jigsaw is the Children’s Hospice for the whole of Cumbria, but there are still many people out there who haven’t heard of us which is why charity partnerships like this are so crucial.”

Genesis Homes is holding a series of activities throughout the year, including a sponsored 10k run in April, a duck race and a number of other fundraising activities at its headquarters in Penrith.
