MARVELLOUS Minis and amazing Austins were among the real classics celebrated in a day of motoring magic.

Crowds were strong for the The Classic Cars in the Park showcase held at Hutton-in-the Forest near Penrith.

And the bank holiday weekend event served as an opener to the 2019 classic car show season with visitors enjoying motoring history and heritage as the grounds of the stately home roared with sounds of cars, motorcycles, vans and trucks from through the generations.

Organisers of the event always hope local people will support their shows so were pleased that, despite damp weather on Sunday that so many people turned up.

Mark Woodward, classic events organiser, said: “There were more than 150 cars and lots of local people there, which is what we hoped for.

“The weather was awful but that didn’t stop people and it was such a successful day.”

There was plenty for the family to get involved in on the day, with displays, club stands and truckloads of vintage vehicle fanatics keen to chat with visitors.

On the day, a local man, Mr Crossley brought along one of his own cars. It was a very rare 1930s car.

Mr Woodward continued: “The Crossley family are a big name in the classic car world so it was a really big boost to have him there.”

As well as chatting to experts, watching displays and listening to commentaries in the arena, visitors were able to grab a bargain from the range of trade stands and the famous auto jumble, as well as tour the grounds.
