HOW THEY MET: They met on online dating after Jess moved to Newcastle to work in 2015 and had their first date in 2016.

PROPOSAL: Neil took Jess for a walk in Carlisle with their two dogs. It was raining so she didn’t want to go. He then surprised her by getting down on one knee and proposing.

VENUE: Gilsland Hall Hotel, Gilsland followed by a church blessing at St Mary Magdalene Church, Gilsland.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A Montreal dress by Callista Bridal from Bridal House, Maryport.

HAIR & BEAUTY: Claire McMurdo and Gillian Hoskins of Shortcuts, Carlisle did the hair and make-up was done by Toni Mullen, Carlisle.

GROOMSMEN: Jamie Little was best man. Jonathan Nelson, Sam Mitchelson, Ian Bell and Stuart Robison were ushers and Theo Robison and Cooper Gilmore were pageboys.

BRIDESMAIDS: Louise Bulman was maid of honour. Laura Mallin, Laura Jackson, Hayley Chandler, Sherrie Mullen and Lucy Blades were bridesmaids and Lilly Ward and Mia Robison were flower girls.

FLOWERS: All bouquets, decorations and arrangements were by the bride’s mother Diane Mallin.

TRANSPORT: The couple were transported to the church blessing by the bride’s uncle and aunt Thomas and Sandra Blades.

RECEPTION: A reception for 130 guests was held at Gilsland Hall Hotel, Gilsland.

FAVOURS: Cancer Research pins.

CAKE: Louise Wilson, a member of the bride’s family made cupcakes, and vegan and gluten-free cupcakes were made by Andrea Johnston, a family friend. There was also a small fruitcake for cutting purposes.

FIRST DANCE: A Thousand Years, Christina Perri.

ENTERTAINMENT: Stephen McKnight, Topdisc DJ who also provide LOVE letters for the evening.

HONEYMOON: A minimoon to Bamburgh immediately after the wedding which will be followed by a honeymoon in Gran Canaria.

PHOTOGRAPHER: Jill at Harrington’s. Jill attended the bride’s parents’ wedding 31 years ago when her mother Audrey Harrington took the photos.

OTHER DETAILS: Gilsland Hall was chosen not only because they loved the atmosphere but because the village of Gilsland straddles the Cumbrian/Northumberland border and as Jess is from Carlisle and Neil is from Ashington in Northumberland it was very fitting.

FAMILY DETAILS: The bride is the daughter of Diane and Gary Mallin and sister of Laura Mallin, Carlisle and the groom is the son of Debra McMullen, Ashington.
