A man who was the victim of an alleged murder bid has left hospital, say police.

In a statement today, police confirmed that the alleged victim who suffered stab wounds at Brakeside Gardens in Whitehaven has now left hospital.

Police yesterday said that another man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing.

Officers were called at 2.15pm yesterday to a report that a 43-year-old man had been stabbed in Kells.

The suspect, 61, was yesterday in police custody.

The alleged victim was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

A police spokesman said yesterday that a larger than normal police presence was expected to be in the area as investigations continued.

Anyone with information was urged to call police on 101.
