CARLISLE City Council's new executive has been announced.
It comes after Conservative John Mallinson was voted in as leader on Monday.
The local elections on May 2 left no party with enough councillors to take overall control.
It therefore came down to a knife-edge vote to determine whether Mr Mallinson or Labour's Colin Glover would be leader - winning by one vote.
As leader, Mr Mallinson has the authority to appoint members to the executive team.
He has now announced the five Conservative councillors to take up those posts.
Deputy leader is Gareth Ellis, councillor for Belah and Kingmoor. He will also hold the portfolio for finance, governance and resources.
Two Stanwix and Houghton councillors feature on the executive - Mr Mallinson's wife Elizabeth and Paul Nedved.
Mrs Mallinson will be responsible for communities, health and wellbeing, while Mr Nedved will hold the economy, enterprise and housing portfolio.
The other two posts go to Wetheral and Corby councillors Stephen Higgs and Nigel Christian.
Mr Higgs will have the culture, heritage and leisure portfolio, while Mr Christian will have responsibility for environment and transport.
The executive is responsible for the day-to-day running of the council, however any major decisions will still have to go in front of the full council.
Decisions can also be referred to scrutiny committees.
