Star of the hit TV series Death in Paradise and Father Ted, Ardal O’Hanlon is bringing his new stand-up show to Cumbria later this year.
The comedy fans will be able to see him at The Old Fire Station, Carlisle, on September 7.
His latest show, titled The showing off must go on, is the first for six years for the 53-year-old.
Despite such a long time away from live performance, O’Hanlon has said: “Stand-up is clearly a compulsion: it’s a lifestyle, it’s a vocation.”
He most recently starred at DI Jack Mooneyhead in Death In Paradise, but will not be returning for the ninth series.
Trying to describe the show, the comedian says it is about living in “an age of raging populism, MeToo, identity politics, the end of truth, the collapsing middle ground, peak avocado and £15 gin and tonics”.
He says he’s “terrified of being on the wrong side of history, and desperate to prove that gender, race, age and class don’t necessarily define me”.
