GUESTS at a charity night enjoyed a Fever when Elvis impersonator Ben Thompson performed at a charity gig in Carlisle - which raised £12,861.

Ben, who flew in from America for the event at the Shepherds Inn, was the 2018 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion officially endorsed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.

The night was held in aid of the Geoff Brown Charitable Trust, which provides young local people with critical and terminal illnesses the chance to go on their dream holiday.

Geoff, who runs the charity, had seen Ben perform and was so impressed he booked him to come to the city.

After the booking, months of preparation followed.

Geoff and his army of helpers decorated the Shepherds Inn with an Hawaiian theme.

His perfectly restored pink Cadillac was parked outside the venue.

And guest were greeted by Hawaiian ladies and presented with garlands when they arrived - some in their blue suede shoes.

Giant letters - all lit up - spelled out ELVIS to set the scene for an amazing evening.

Geoff said: “The night was a 100 per cent success.

“There were four hundred people at the event.

“It sold out and everyone enjoyed it.

“We had several helpers on the night.

“Thanks must go to Celia Dickinson, John Spokes, Elma Harrison, Linda Johnstone, Rose Harkness, Ann Allan, Paul Ferguson, Tracey Steele, Rachel Ferguson, Victoria Ferguson, Rebecca Ferguson, Sharon Dickinson and Mike & Monty were the DJ’s for the night.

“Paul helped tidy up after the event.”
