A BUDDING Bonington bagged three Wainwrights – including the tallest mountain in England – in one day.
Kacy Mason, 10, is in training for her challenge of completing them all within a year.
The youngster is raising money for Wasdale Mountain Rescue by challenging herself to complete each of the 214 Wainwrights in just 365 days, starting on August 1, and her training is non-stop.
The active youngster, accompanied by her dad, Michael, set off from Wasdale National Trust car park early on Saturday, May 4, and scrambled her way up, down, and all around to reach the peaks of Scafell (3,162ft), Lingmell (2,265ft), and the highest in the country, Scafell Pike (3,210ft).
Wasdale Mountain Rescue met Lacy, from Maryport, before she set off up the mountains, and had the company of the Mountain Bagging Team throughout the day, making the challenge that bit easier.
Most people would take a well-deserved lengthy rest after the eight-hour-long day of hiking, but Kacy is on a mission, and is hoping to tackle Helvellyn today.
