The opening date for Carlisle’s new KFC drive-through has been revealed.

The new chicken shop, based at the former Harraby Green Service Station on London Road, is set to open its doors to customers on Friday.

The drive-thru will have indoor and outdoor seating, along with 25 car park spaces.

It will serve its popular popcorn chicken, wraps and box meals after an absence in the city of nearly seven months.

Regarding the new addition, a spokesman for KFC said: “We’re delighted to be opening our new restaurant in Carlisle this summer.

“Our new addition on London Road will create 50 full-time and part-time jobs in the local area as well as bring our tasty chicken closer to our fans.”

The chain previously had a city centre presence. The two-story branch, which was based in the Lanes Shopping Centre, closed its doors to customers following the end of its lease in October last year.

Work commenced on the brand new KFC outlet in October, just a week after the closure of the Lanes store.

It has always refused to provide details of its opening date, but has now confirmed it is just days away.

The fried chicken giant, which first arrived in Carlisle in 2002, also has branches in Workington, Penrith, Barrow and in Gretna.
