There were some shocks and close calls in the Carlisle City Council elections.
New boundaries saw the total number of councillors drop from 52 to 39, with three people elected in each of the 13 new wards.
It meant an all-out election was needed, though in future the authority will return to electing in thirds.
This means the councillor with the highest number of votes in each will now not be up for re-election for four years.
The member with the second will be up in three years, while the person elected with the lowest total will have to fight to retain their seat again next year.
