He may be young, but Oliver Hodgson is already well on the road to his dream career - and he wants you to know that you can be, too!

Fifteen-year-old entrepreneur Ollie has been working towards his goal of becoming a radio DJ since an early age, and particularly over the last four years.

The budding radio personality has been involved with plenty of events during his time as a DJ, host, promoter, and editor, and hopes to add many more to his list before the end of this year.

As well as working on professional productions, pantomimes and music festivals, Gosforth's Ollie has been signed by a Kendal radio station, and now presents their Saturday evening show, proving his inspiring saying to be right - "your age should never be a barrier - you're never too young to get experience in the industry you love."

The bold teen's latest achievement, and one of his proudest, is his 'Confidence is Key' interview with Copeland MP, Trudy Harrison, in which the West Lakes Academy student hoped to reach out to other young people, and spread awareness about the importance of self-confidence and supporting young people and their mental health.

During their one-to-one discussion, Ollie discusses the issues he has faced in the past when trying to follow his dreams, including problems with bullying, harassment, and knocks to his self-confidence.

Oliver talked about his experiences, and how they've helped him over the years, saying: "I'm a stronger, more confident person who can take more than I used to take four years ago."He continued: "Discouragement was a massive thing when I started high school, but after I got my amazing support network, it changed my life. I've worked with so many people now, and I just want more people to feel comfortable to do that."

Trudy Harrison showed her support for Oliver, and for those wanting to pursue their seemingly impossible goals, and said: "What's the worst that can happen in actually having a go? Because the best thing that could happen is you might just achieve what you set out to do."

Between studying for his GCSEs and managing his businesses, you can find the unstoppable Ollie inviting celebrities to attend local events, including The Voice's Holly Ellison, who enjoyed working with the events organiser so much that she's hoping to return for his next big event, to be held on October 26 of this year.

Hard-working Hodgson commented on the secret event, saying: "The line-up is huge, I honestly do not know how we've managed to pull it off. I can't announce much yet, just the date - but stay tuned!"

Oliver expressed his thanks to his parents, family, and friends for all of their help and encouragement, along with his tutor Megan Starkie, Vice Principal Sophie McCabe, heads of year Holly Donaldson and Anita Clements, and Sara Devine for helping him with everything from his schoolwork to his businesses.

The ambitious youngster also stated how thankful he was to Trudy Harrison MP for her support, and said: "I loved every minute! I am so grateful to Trudy for giving me this fantastic opportunity."
