A MAN who denies an alleged boiling water "attack" on his partner is to stand trial later this year.

Lee McCutcheon, 27, faces a total of four charges. All arise out of alleged incidents on March 17 this year which are said to have occurred at an address in the Morton area of Carlisle.

One charges alleges "applying a destructive substance with intent".

This alleges that McCutcheon unlawfully and maliciously applied, cast or threw boiling water at the woman "with intent to burn, maim, disfigure, or disable her", or to cause her grievous bodily harm.

McCutcheon is also alleged to have caused the woman grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is further alleged to have falsely imprisoned both the same female, and also a male, against their will.

During a short hearing at Carlisle Crown Court today, McCutcheon pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

A timetable for the progression of the case was set in front of Judge Peter Davies.

A trial, estimated to last around three days, is due to start in front of a jury at the crown court on August 27.

A further hearing will be held in late July, and in the meantime McCutcheon, latterly of Lowther Street, Carlisle, was remanded in custody by Judge Davies.
