A serial shoplifter has been banned from Carlisle city centre shops after admitting having committed a dozen thefts.
42-year-old Pete Vickers of Chatsworth Square, Carlisle admitted 12 counts of shop theft offences to magistrates on Saturday.
Sentenced to 26 weeks in custody, Vickers was also hit with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), banning him from all retail premises in Carlisle city centre.
Vickers has also been banned from any Carlisle Shopwatch premises, the city's branches of B&M and the Houghton Hall garden centre.
Commenting on the CBO received by Vickers, PC Lori Wilson said that “Criminal Behaviour Orders are valuable tools to help give local businesses some respite from prolific offending.
“We publicise these orders because we want the public to help us ensure the terms are not broken.
“If you see Vickers ignoring the terms of the order then contact police immediately.”
A Cumbria Police spokesman added that the CBO was "aimed at protecting Carlisle businesses from his offending".
