Emergency services rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on a busy Carlisle road last night.

All three blue-light services were scrambled to Scotland Road, north Carlisle, at about 10pm last night after two cars were involved in a crash.

Occurring at the junction between Scotland Road and Etterby Streeet just outside the Crown pub, one of the vehicles is reported to have collided with a set of traffic lights sited at the junction.

A spokesman for Carlisle west fire station, whose crew attended the scene last night, said that given the extent of the damage suffered by both cars "it was lucky that no-one was injured".

Cumbria Police have been contacted for comment.
