PLANNERS have given the green light to proposals to bring a new tattoo parlour to the Carlisle city centre.

Carlisle City Council planning chiefs approved the application to turn the former charity shop building next to Annie’s cafe in Bank Street into a tattoo studio on Wednesday.

The business hours of the parlour - if the application is approved - would be 10am until 6pm Monday to Saturday.

The proposal is to turn the first and second floors of the building - which are currently used as offices - into the new tattoo parlour.

Submitting the application was Mr J Rodriguez of Reiver Place in Carlisle.

The building in question is a grade II-listed building.

The application was submitted on February 25.

No letters of objection were submitted by local businesses or residents.

Two full-time positions will be created by the new tattoo studio.

The only internal alteration will be to knock down a wall on the first floor of the building to combine the two existing front rooms into one large treatment room.

The application is for 49 Bank Street, which is a three-storey mid-terrace Victorian building.
