Steve Mason steps out on his own to play Carlisle later this year with his new band.

As well as mixing Scottish, electronic, rock, trip hop, and Siouxsie and the Banshees with The Beta Band, Steve has also recorded under the names of King Biscuit Time and Black Affair and since 2010 has released three acclaimed solo albums under his own name.

His latest, About The Light was released earlier this year with the new outfit.

The Beta Band split in 2004 and Steve said: “Song writing since the Beta Band had become something I did entirely alone, from the original concept to the full demo and often in the studio it was just myself and a producer.

"I decided with the latest album that I wanted to get my live band involved at every stage to break this cycle, and because I wanted to capture the energy that we produce when we play live shows."
