A WIGTON man charged with attempted murder has appeared in court.
Scott Thomas Topping was brought before magistrates in Carlisle today.
The 39-year-old, of Mulligans Court, Wigton, who spoke only to confirm his name and address, had a total of four charges put to him but entered no pleas.
The first charge alleges he attempted to murder of Robert Pattinson in Wigton on Friday.
He is also charged with being in possession of a large black handled kitchen knife outside the Throstles Nest public house, in King Street.
Topping allegedly threatened another man, Neil Dixon, with a knife "in such a way that there was an immediate risk of serious physical harm to that person."
He is also accused of assault by beating, in which it is alleged he assaulted Lisa Dixon by beating her.
The defendant, who was represented by Emily Smith, is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing on May 20.
He has been remanded in custody until that date.
