The launch of a new independent shop has brought a boost to one Cumbrian high street.

Shoe shop Oh Pair opened for the first time on Monday in Brampton.

The store is run by Jane Bowman, who was excited to launch her first solo business venture.

“This is the first time I’ve run something on my own, so it’s definitely exciting,” Jane told The Cumberland News.

No stranger to the Brampton business scene, Jane previously worked alongside her father Doug Bowman at Lowther Used Furniture, nearby to her new Front Street premises.

“We’ve got a range of stock from German designer Marco Tozzi, there’s something for everyone, both for adults and for children,” Jane added.

“It’s brilliant to be finally up and running.”Jane said that preparing for the first opening of the shop on Monday had been stressful, but a successful first week had proven it had been worth it.

“I’ve been so pleased to see the first week go well.”

Open from Monday until Saturday 10am until 3pm, the launch of Jane’s new business provides a boost for the Brampton high street, with Oh Pair now occupying the premises formerly home to the Front Room Art Gallery which closed in February.
