History: Mizu opened in May 2018. With an open kitchen, fabulous bar area and riverside terrace, 70- seater Mizu offers guests and hotel residents the opportunity to taste fresh, Asian-inspired dishes in the heart of the Lake District.
Mizu’s ‘zen’-themed decor has been designed to create a relaxed ambience with cool, elemental colours, floor-to-ceiling windows coupled with natural textures and materials.
Style of food: Offering a fusion of Asian cuisine, Mizu’s menu is a treat for the senses, serving a selection of tempting Japanese, Korean, Malaysian and Thai specialities.
Menu sample: Sushi starts from £5 for three pieces, and sashimi at £13 for a mix of salmon, yellowfin tuna, prawn and sea bass. There is crisp tempura, £4 for tempura tenderstem broccoli in a chilli, coriander, lime and rice wine vinegar.
Curries include pork belly raisukaree (£16), katsu curry (£16) and Thai green cod itam (£17). Delicately spiced bowls of ramen inlcude chicken (£16); chilli (£16), slow-cooked Cumbrian pork belly (£17) and seafood (£17. There are also tender meat, chicken and fish dishes from the grill, Mizu-style.
Desserts include mango and coconut cheesecake with kaffir lime leaf and meringue(£7) or green tea and passion fruit with matcha sponge and puffed rice (£7) and chocolate lava cake with Japanese umeshu hot chocolate sauce, pistachio and vanilla ice cream (£8).
