A BIG top will be set up in Penrith this month as Britain's oldest touring circus is set to return .

Audiences were wowed last year when Gandeys Circus brought its performers to the town for the first time since 1990.

It is coming back this year with its Greatest Show Tour and will be staged in an 1,000 seat Italian Big Top at Frenchfield Sports Centre on from April 26 - 29.

The impressive show will feature and international cast of more than 30 talented artists.

Binky Beaumont, of Gandeys Circus, said: "This year’s show is even bigger and more spectacular it includes the world-class Havana Troupe, direct from Cuba, who return with two new brand new acts featuring the sensational five handed springboard act and the unbelievable Russian bar act.

"We also have three motorbikes racing around in the iron Thunderdome in the centre of the circus ring at 45mph."
