Walkers venturing up Latrigg on Easter Sunday will be able to enjoy a bacon roll and a cuppa while helping good causes.

The Rotary Club of Bassenthwaite are set host their pop-up alfresco cafe on April 21 for the 11th time.

Weather permitting, the club runs the cafe each Easter as a fun event and fundraiser.

Lizzie Johnson, the club’s organiser. said: "A felltop café can be a bit challenging to set up and run, but we raise several hundred pounds on the day.

"We enjoy doing it, and our customers enjoy the novelty of felltop refreshments.

"We even have repeat customers who time their visit to the Lakes to coincide with the café.

"The ascent of Latrigg is a popular and family-friendly walk from Keswick and the view from the top is one of the best in the Lakes."

Money raised last year was used to help fund a project to provide a much-needed clean water supply to a new school and remote community at Danda Gaun, near Arughat in Nepal.

Spring water has now been piped to the village and the next objective is to upgrade sanitation there.

As usual, the café will serve hot and cold drinks, bacon, sausage or egg rolls and cakes between 10.30am and 3pm.

And this year, to reflect the Nepal connection, the menu will also include a Nepali dahl and flatbread option.

The Rotarians are working with Eaglesfield charity Arughat Support Fund, which has successfully supported hospital and school projects in Nepal following the devastating earthquake of 2015.
