Eden Council will invest £17,000 to help local businesses through the Brexit uncertainty.
The government funding will go towards providing information and advice, as well as a range of different initiatives to be delivered by Cumbria Chamber of Commerce.
In the next few months, four events will be held across the Eden district to help local companies navigate the complexities of Brexit.
The council will also use the money to match European Regional Development Funding to help with start-up support and similar services.
This support includes outreach work to encourage people to set up a business, start-up courses, coaching, and general one-to-one advice.
Workshops are also available for local businesses that teach social media in business, sales, accounts and finance, as well as marketing techniques and taking on staff.
