Police are investigating after a man and a woman were assaulted by a man carrying a plank of wood.

The attacks -which police think may be linked to a criminal damage incident - happened between 5:05pm and 5:30pm on Monday March 18 in Workington.

The first incident was in Furness Road, Workington, where a man and a woman were assaulted by a man with grey hair, aged in his mid 40s, say police.

A spokesman said the suspect at one point was carrying a wooden plank which he used to attack the other man.

Following this was a case of criminal damage to a window on Bowness Court.

Police believe the same man involved in the assaults was responsible.

Anyone with information or who witnessed any of the incidents should contact police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
