PATIENTS have faced problems trying to contact the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust said it was experiencing issues with external lines at the hospital.
Engineers are working to fix the problem but in the meantime patients are asked to contact the switchboard.
The hospital trust said on social media: "We are experiencing some issues with our phone lines at the moment.
"Please call our switchboard on 01946 693181 and ask to be connected to the department you require.
"Our supplier is working to fix the problem.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
