FIRE crews have rescued a woman from her flat in Old Town after the floor collapsed outside her door.
Firefighters were called at around 6pm on Sunday night when a 6ft chasm revealing the cellar underneath Virgilio's barber shop on Bath Road appeared.
A heavy rescue unit was mobilised and triple extension ladder used after the hole meant the tenant was trapped in the building.
No injuries were reported from the accident, which appeared to be caused by rotten wood underneath the floor in the doorway, and has been sealed off to stop pedestrians from falling in.
The woman is understood to have had help from the Red Cross to find accommodation while a temporary bridge can be built to allow access to the property.
The buildings are owned by the landlord of Fabio's Restaurant who is taking the necessary repairs.
