Carlisle fire crews were called on today to rescue a horse that had become trapped in a fence.
Crews from Carlisle east and west fire stations were called at about 6.30pm this evening when a horse was discovered in a field near Durdar, south of Carlisle with two metres of wire fencing wrapped around its leg.
A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed that the horse was unhurt by the ordeal, but that fire crews had to used bolt cutters to free the trapped animal after calming it down.
