A Whitehaven business owner was left "shocked" after his shop was broken into and a window smashed.
Adam Grant, who owns AG Fashion on James Street, has spoken out about the incident in which two pairs of trainers were taken. It is believed to have happened early on Tuesday morning.
He said: "It's set me back. I've only been in a year. It's not good for your business."
The 26-year-old, who has his own fashion label, runs the business alongside his main job.
He said: "I'm trying to bring something good to Whitehaven - they are crying out for shops. I wanted to give something back to the town then this happens.
"The town is getting worse."
Mr Grant will now have to pay for the damage to the window and is getting CCTV installed which will cost him around £1,000.
"That's an expense I don't want to pay," he said.
Cumbria Police said a 41-year old man from Whitehaven had been arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of a bladed article in a public place. A 22-year-old man from Whitehaven had also been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Both have been released under investigation.
