A financial planner at one of Cumbria's largest accountants has been recognised in a national newspaper.

Matthew Slessor, chartered financial planner for Armstrong Watson, has received national recognition after being listed in the weekend’s Times newspaper’s Vouched For ‘2019 Guide to the UK’s Top Rated Financial Advisers’.

Matthew is a member of Armstrong Watson’s independent financial planning and wealth management team and is the only chartered financial planner from Carlisle to be listed in this year’s guide.

He joins an elite list of the highest rated financial and mortgage advisers in the UK based on positive client reviews.

To gain a place in the rankings, each adviser had to have received at least 10 positive client reviews via VouchedFor.co.uk, the UK’s leading ratings site for financial and legal professionals.

All registered advisers are checked against the Financial Conduct Authority’s register and regularly monitored.

Matthew scored a 4.8 average score out of five from a total of 31 client reviews.

The scoring is based on three areas; advice, service and value, with each area impacting on the overall score.

Matthew said: “I’m delighted to feature in the Times this weekend as one of the UK’s top rated Financial Advisers.

"I’d like to extend my thanks to my clients, who provided some really kind comments and also congratulate all the other advisers who featured within the guide.”

Matthew has over 20 years of experience providing financial advice, including investment planning, inheritance tax planning, pension planning and protection.

Armstrong Watson has 17 offices across Cumbria and the north of England.

This is including seven in Cumbria.

Last year the company was one of the finalists in the Best Professional Services category of the in-Cumbria business awards.

It recently launched a recruitment drive to take on 12 new trainees, made up of nine accounting technician trainees and three chartered accountants.
