A QUIZ night is being held at a Carlisle cafe in aid of Fairtrade.

The event at Cakes and Ale cafe, in Castle Street, is one of a string of events organised by Carlisle Fairtrade Group to mark Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from February 25 to March 10.

The quiz takes place on Friday at 7pm and is open to teams of up to six people.

Other events being hosted by the Carlisle group include a talk to highlight what Fairtrade is doing to support farmers on the journey towards a living income and a walk from Dalston Co-op to Cornerstones Cafe, in Denton Holme, on March 9.

Carlisle has been a Fairtrade city since March 2005 and thanks to a dedicated band of volunteers and the support from people locally the city has retained its Fairtrade status, something awarded every two years by the Fairtrade Foundation.

Booking for the quiz, which costs £2, is essential. Call 01228 529067.
